Climbing and outdoors brand Black Diamond has unveiled a new helmet and harnesses for spring 2012.
The Tracer helmet has been reincarnated as the Vector, a geometric co-moulded, ultralight helmet with superior ventilation that comes in men’s and women’s specific models.
The helmet is built from a redesigned head shape out of co-moulded EPS foam and outfitted with generous airflow ports. Black Diamond says it offers unparalleled fit thanks to its tuck-away ratcheting suspension system as well as what is claims to be the most secure headlamp attachment clips on the market.
The company said: “This helmet represents the evolution of helmet design and is ideal for any fast and light climbing or mountaineering mission.”
The Vector tips the scales at 240g in M/L size.
The company’s harness range has been updated with the women’s Siren and men’s Flight models, which it says offer high performance combined with light weight – ideal for sport climbing or lightweight expeditions.
The harnesses feature Mondo gear loops and are constructed using new Dual Core XP which combines a breathable Openair waistbelt with full-width, high tensile nylon leg loops for optimal comfort and breathability.
Black Diamond says the new forged Speed Adjust waistbelt buckles are now more secure and easier to manipulate than ever.
“Patent pending trakFIT leg loop adjustments provide worry free fitting, and the Bombshell abrasion patches on the waistbelt and leg loops are 20 times more durable than standard nylon patches,” it adds.
Weight for the medium size is 300g.
The new helmet and harnesses will be introduced during the spring-summer season this year.
