Members of a mountain rescue team went to the aid of a trials biker who fell from his machine after hitting a tree.
Edale Mountain Rescue Team was called after a trainee member was alerted to the incident in the village of Eyam about 5.30pm on Friday.
The biker was descending a track when the accident happened. A spokesperson for the team said: “A trainee team member who lives in the village was asked for assistance and quickly realised that due to the location of the accident and nature of the riders injuries mountain rescue would be required.
“The male was treated with East Midlands Ambulance Service staff for a dislocated shoulder and fractured upper arm. As a precaution he was also treated for possible neck and back injuries. After being placed in a vacuum mattress body splint and then on a stretcher he was carried down the track to the ambulance.”

24 August 2011I would not have bothered, should have charged with ripping the countryside and sent him to prison. He is no better than any other rioter.

24 August 2011It's quite legal for trial riders to use that track. Most of the damage to the countryside anyway, whether we like it or not, it done by walkers and mountain bikers, much of it requiring landscape changing remedial work - take a look at the stone flags from Back Tor northwards for example.
Mr Stuart's comments exhibit as ugly a piece of nimbyist snobbery as you could wish not to encounter.
The money that I give to MRTs is for anyone who needs help and if I grudge it to anyone its the navigationally challenged not some working class bloke on a bike.
