Two Coast to Coast walkers were rescued after being reported overdue in the Lake District.
The women were on the route between Ennerdale Bridge and Honister.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 9.50pm yesterday and eight members began a search for the walkers.
They were found below Brandreth and members of the rescue team walked them off the fell to Honister youth hostel.

02 June 2011That's exactly where we got lost last October, (the week before the clocks went back)!!! We missed the path to the left & started climbing. By 5pm, we knew we only had 1 1/2 hrs of light left. We spotted someone far below us & after a frantic 20 min run, discovered that we were miles out!! Luckily, the guy knew the area & kindly walked us back to his car & drove us to Honister YH, by which time it was 6:45 & pitch black. If we hadn't seen him, (& we hardly met anyone during the week), we would have been stranded. I would definitely say that the Coast 2 Coast is NOT for the fainthearted-- Julia Bradbury has certainly got a lot to answer to!!! She made it look pretty efforless & there wasn't a mention of it being badly signed. In fact we only saw about 2 signs from St Bees Head to Shap-- we're doing the 2nd half in September, so must brush up on the map-reading!!!!

19 September 2016So you watch a tv show, think 'that looks nice' and go off to do it without any more research or reading? Hmmm. The Coast to Coast is literally 'not a walk in the park'
