Two walkers were rescued after they got into difficulties in poor weather on a fell.
The pair were found suffering from hypothermia by members of the Cave Rescue Organisation and RAF Leeming Mountain Rescue Team on Simon Fell in the Yorkshire Dales.
The walkers were heading from Ingleborough to Park Fell when they called for help in strong winds and rain, and poor visibility on Sunday just before 11am.
After they were warmed up, they were brought down to the valley at the Hill Inn, Chapel-le-Dale, by the rescuers, with help from the RAF team, which was training in the area.
The Clapham-based CRO carries out rescues on the fells and in the caves and potholes of the Yorkshire Dales.

24 May 2011Do these people never check the forecasts before they venture out on the fells or do they just think it cant happen to them??

25 May 2011Surely even if the weather did change so quickly you should have been adequately prepared (spare clothing/hat and gloves, emergency shelter etc and/or have the skills and experience to cope with the situation unless there was some accident or other unforeseen circumstance.
Being a member of an MR team I have every sympathy with and understanding of people who get into difficult and appreciate it could happen to anyone of us. However, we all have a responsibility to mitigate against such situations as much as possible and using a change in the weather as an excuse indicates a possible lack of preparedness.
Anyway, glad you survived and hope you've had chance for some reflective learning.
