Ingleborough and Crina Bottom

Two walkers were rescued after getting caught out at night on a Yorkshire Dales fell.

The 26-year-old woman and 22-year-old man called for help after being overtaken by darkness while tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge yesterday.

Members of the Cave Rescue Organisation received a phone call from the pair on the summit of Ingleborough at about 10.20pm.

A spokesperson said: “Attempts at talking them down by mobile phone failed, and so a small CRO team went up to collect them. They were escorted down to a team vehicle above Crina Bottom for transport off the hill.”

  • Rescuers in south Wales went to the aid of a girl who had fallen on a scree slope.

Members of the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team were joined by colleagues from the Longtown and Brecon Mountain Rescue Teams and Western Beacons Mountain Search and Rescue Team at the site just outside Ebbw Vale, north of Cefn Manmoel.

The 11-year-old was stretchered off the hill to a waiting air ambulance before being flown to hospital.
