The walker was found above Greenside while descending from Helvellyn

A walker was helped from England’s third highest mountain by rescuers after injuring herself.

The 25-year-old woman was with a group from Coventry coming down from Helvellyn when she injured her knee.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by police at 5.45pm today and rescuers went to the walker’s aid.

The North West Air Ambulance also flew to Patterdale to support the rescue.

A spokesperson for Patterdale MRT said: “The woman was located on the track above Greenside and transported to the team’s rescue centre by Land Rover ambulance. She was assessed by the team doctor and no further treatment was required.”
