A founder of the society formed by aficionados of Alfred Wainwright will present a dramatic representation of the author’s life.
This evening’s show by John Burland of the Wainwright Society will take place at the village hall in Penruddock near Penrith in Cumbria.
Proceeds will go to help improvements to the hall.
In the presentation, Mr Burland will take the audience on a journey through Wainwright’s life from his humble upbringing in Blackburn through his life-changing visit to the Lake District in 1930 and then his eventual move to Kendal in 1940 and the 15 years spent writing the Pictorial Guides between 1952 and 1967.
The show was first performed at the Ilkley Literature Festival in 2009.
Further performances will take place in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, to Marple Ramblers and the Easingwold University of the Third Age.
Tonight’s show starts at 8pm and admission, priced £5, is available on the door. More details are available from Linda Walker on 017684 83410.
