The hills of north Wales will be alive with the sound of music during a gathering that combines musicianship and mountaineering.
The National Mountain Centre at Plas y Brenin is offering hillwalkers the chance to combine their musical skills with learning new winter or navigation skills on the hills of Snowdonia.
The Big Acoustic Walk is open to musicians, vocalists or even just enthusiastic listeners who fancy mixing a weekend of mountain activity with a jam or two with fellow players.
Participants can choose from very gentle to very challenging guided walks; a winter skills workshop; or a navigation workshop. Friday night will see a jam session with fellow enthusiasts in the centre’s bar, with Saturday spent on the hills. An open mike evening will then offer the chance to demonstrate acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin or ukulele skills with fellow walkers.
Sunday will see another day on the Snowdonia hills before returning to Plas y Brenin near Capel Curig for tea and cakes before departure.
Cost of the 12 and 13 February weekend, including food and accommodation, is £150 per person. More details are on the Plas y Brenin website.

13 January 2011Nice trick that: superimposing a picture of an electric guitar over the mountains. Pity the gig is for acoustic guitars. Oops!

13 January 2011Yes, we know. But we didn't have a picture of an acoustic guitar. Anyway, the Les Paul is my favourite. Could just take it and not plug it in?

...especially if I was playing!
