The Wainwright Society calendar features members' photos along with Wainwright sketches and quotes

Sales of a calendar produced by fans of the Lakeland guidebook author Alfred Wainwright have so far raised more than £4,000 for mountain rescue.

The 2011 calendar produced by the Wainwright Society features photographs taken by members, along with a Wainwright sketch and related quote for each month.

Three-quarters of the print run have so far been sold, and the society is urging outdoor enthusiasts to order their copy, the profit from which will go to the Lake District and Pennine mountain rescue teams. £7.50 from each sale will go to help the rescue teams.

Derek Cockell, press and publicity officer for the Wainwright Society, said: “With Christmas and the New Year approaching, this is the ideal time to purchase a calendar and also to help to ensure that the volunteers can continue their valuable work of saving lives in the Lake District and the Pennines.”

The calendar costs £10. Details of how to order are on the society’s website.
