Rescuers have found the body of a man in the area where hillwalker Stewart Sutherland was believed to have gone missing.
Northern Constabulary said the man has not yet been identified.
The body was found by members of the Kintail Mountain Rescue Team yesterday, Sunday about 12.20pm at the Bealach an Sgàirne, between A’Ghlas-bheinn and Meall a Bhealaich, an outlier of Beinn Fhada in Kintail.
The bealach lies about 5½km (3½ miles) west of Morvich.
A police spokesperson said: “Stornoway Coastguard helicopter assisted the team to remove the remains from the mountain.
“The dead man has not yet been identified. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
Glasgow man Stewart Sutherland has been missing since he left his lodge at the Great Glen Water Park near Invergarry on 20 September.
His friend and walking companion Derek Clark issued a picture of the missing man. He said he and Mr Sutherland had previously climbed A’Ghlas-bheinn during their munro bagging outings.
The Kintail, Skye and RAF Kinloss Mountain Rescue Teams mounted a major search of the area the previous week, aided by Search and Rescue Dogs Association and a Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth after Mr Sutherland’s car was found at Dorusduain near Morvich.

Members of the Skye Mountain Rescue Team and Stornoway Coastguard went to his aid after being alerted at about 4.40pm.A police spokesperson said: “The climber was assisted to the ground, uninjured.”
