A walker was stretchered off England’s third highest mountain after injuring her ankle.
The 49-year-old, from Derbyshire, slipped on Striding Edge on Helvellyn on Sunday afternoon.
Friends and passing walkers carried her down to Red Tarn where members of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, who had been alerted by police, treated her injuries.
A spokesperson for the team said: “After examining and splinting her ankle, the team stretchered her down the fell to a waiting team ambulance. She was then transported back to the rescue centre and taken by her friends to hospital for further treatment.”
