Police are investigating the deaths of three golden eagles after their bodies were found with other dead birds of prey.

Officers from Northern Constabulary are working with the National Wildlife Crime Unit, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds after the discovery in east Sutherland during the past week.

A Northern Constabulary spokesperson said: “The birds have been sent for forensic analysis in Edinburgh and police are awaiting the results. Inquiries are ongoing and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
