A walker was airlifted to hospital after falling from a Lake District crag.
The 22-year-old woman fell 80m (260ft) from Pillar Rock in Ennerdale on Sunday while she was walking with friends. An air ambulance flew Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team’s doctor and team leader to the incident, on the north face of the 892m (2,927ft) Pillar.
The woman, from Oxford, suffered head, spine and arm injuries in the fall, which happened while she was making her way down the large rock outcrop. Other rescue team members made their way on foot to the incident, 450m (1,476ft) above the secluded Cumbrian valley.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Constabulary said: “A Royal Navy helicopter winched the casualty out of the gully and flew her to West Cumberland Hospital at Whitehaven.”
Twenty-four mountain rescue team members attended the incident.
