The missing walker was found on Rest Dodd

A 73-year-old man walker was found by rescuers after getting lost at night on a Cumbrian fell.

The man, from the Liverpool area, rang 999 after losing his way in darkness late on Monday. Fifteen members of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and two dog handlers from the Search and Rescue Dogs Association (Lakes) mounted a search for the walker in the High Street area.

The man was found by the rescuers shortly before midnight, almost four hours after calling for help.

A spokesperson for Patterdale MRT said: “The man was cold but unhurt and escorted off the mountain by team members.”
