The Glen Brittle climbing hut, a favourite with Cuillin conquerors, has had to be closed.

Problems with the hut’s water supply in the western Skye glen have forced the closure of the hut, which was available to members of the Mountaineering Council of Scotland, British Mountaineering Council and affiliated clubs. It is hoped to reopen the building in March.

A statement by the Mountaineering Council of Scotland said: “Due to problems with the water supply that have proved difficult to resolve, the custodian has had no choice other than to close the hut until further notice and apologises for the inconvenience this may cause.”

The Glen Brittle Hut is held in trust on behalf of the MCofS and BMC and has 18 bunks.
