A calendar featuring photographs of some of Alfred Wainwright’s favourite fells has been flying off the shelves.
The calendar, produced by the Wainwright Society, will now be reprinted. Profits from sales will go to the Fix the Fells project, which helps repair footpaths on the Lake District’s hills and mountains.
The photograph for each month is accompanied by a Wainwright sketch and a quote from the author, whose celebrated Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells detail all the major Lake District mountains.
The pictures have been donated free of charge by society members and the cover of the A4 calendar is a photograph by professional Derry Brabbs, whose pictures were used in many of the later coffee-book compilations of Wainwright’s writings.
Martin Roberts of the Wainwright Society said: “The calendars make great Christmas stocking fillers, and we can now take payment online.”
The Heritage Lottery Fund will add £2 for every pound given to the Fix the Fells fund, making donations even more effective.
Details of the calendar are on the Wainwright Society website.
