Walkers’ pinup Julia Bradbury will get a royal boost when she switches on Keswick’s Christmas lights on Friday.
Prince Charles will join the television presenter to bring a little light to the area battered by floods in the past week. He will join the Wainwright Walks broadcaster to turn on the festive display when he visits Cumbria to support those affected by the floods.
The Prince of Wales will also visit Northside Community Centre in Workington, cut off after the unprecedented floods swept away the town’s bridges.
Tourism officer Linda Furniss said: “We appreciate it so much; it will pull the whole community together.”
The television presenter will be on hand to greet visitors and residents and turn on the festive display at 5.30pm in the Market Square. She will also launch an appeal to help victims of the floods.
Charles will also visit Cockermouth the following day, to see the damage caused by the floods.
His son William is patron of Mountain Rescue England and Wales, many of whose volunteer members were at the centre of rescue operations during the floods. Prince William is training to be an RAF search-and-rescue helicopter pilot.
