A woman was taken to hospital today after falling on a Lake District path.

Members of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called to help the 54-year-old South African at 1.30pm today. The walker had slipped on a wet footpath near Ruthwaite Lodge, Grisedale and injured her ankle.

Seven members of the Penrith Mountain Rescue Team helped 11 Patterdale team members carry the woman from the fell. She was taken to Patterdale’s headquarters and then by ambulance to hospital.
