Police have named a woman who died following a fall while walking in Sutherland.
Laura Woodberry Jessiman, 51, of Darien, Connecticut, was airlifted by RAF Sea King helicopter to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after the incident in the hills in the Durness area in the far North of Scotland.
Mountain rescuers and police went to the woman’s aid, but she was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A spokesperson for the Northern Constabulary said: “A report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal. There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”

04 June 2011Our team climbed Ben Nevis last Sunday and weather was really bad yet we saw a guy in jeans and normal shoes climbing. I just they would realise they are putting other people at risk not just themselves. Treat this mountain with respect or it can hurt you.
