An RAF Sea King airlifted Ms Jessiman to hospital, but she was pronounced dead

Police have named a woman who died following a fall while walking in Sutherland.

Laura Woodberry Jessiman, 51, of Darien, Connecticut, was airlifted by RAF Sea King helicopter to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after the incident in the hills in the Durness area in the far North of Scotland.

Mountain rescuers and police went to the woman’s aid, but she was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

A spokesperson for the Northern Constabulary said: “A report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal. There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
