Aonach EagachA man was injured after falling from the Aonach Eagach ridge at the weekend.

Rescue services were alerted at about 12.30pm on Saturday after the man, who was walking with two others, fell from the route above Glencoe. Members of the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team went to the man’s aid and located him.

Helicopters from RAF Kinloss and Stornoway Coastguard helped 11 Glencoe MRT members in the operation. He was airlifted to Belford Hospital, Fort William.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The following day, a man was airlifted from Ben Nevis after a member of Lochaber MRT came across the 69-year-old, who had fallen and injured himself. The rescuer alerted emergency services about 4.50pm.

A helicopter from RAF Kinloss, which was operating in the area at the time, was diverted to the scene and flew him to hospital in Fort William.

The walker’s injuries are not life-threatening, a police spokesman said.
