The latest edition of the hillzine The Angry Corrie dropped on to the mat at grough headquarters today.

Among the subjects covered by the acerbic magazine are a few which will be familiar to grough readers, including Mr Lister’s plans for the Alladale wolf reserve, the various attempts at knocking off long-distance running routes among the munros and an encounter with a stricken walker on Striding Edge.

There is also discussion of the merits of golfing on the top of the likes of Ben Lomond, a measured piece on the fraught issue of windfarms on the hills and more esoteric subjects such as Orangemen drumming up funds on the summit of Ben Nevis, which hill your mountain of mortgage debt could be compared to and a thoughtful recounting of Remembrance Day on Great Gable.

Never a publication to take the middle ground, The Angry Corrie is always erudite and thought provoking and is one of our favourite reads.

It’s available at outdoor haunts throughout the Highlands and from Needle Sports in Keswick and Freetime in Carlisle.  If you can’t make it to any them, you can contact the publishers at theangrycorrie@googlemail.com or by ringing 01786 450047.
