Lake District police have confirmed the identity of a man found at the foot of a crag in Buttermere.
The body of Simon Bally was found on Tuesday at the foot of Striddle Crag on Fleetwith Pike by members of the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team. He had been reported missing the previous day.
The 48-year-old from Foxt, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, failed to meet his partner at Penrith Station. Rescuers found his body at about 8.30pm on Tuesday, three hours after his green VW camper-van was discovered at nearby Gatescarth.
An inquest has been opened and adjourned. Cumbria Constabulary say they are not treating Mr Bally’s death as suspicious.
