Rescuers in the Lake District have found the body of a walker who had been reported overdue.
The man, from Cumbria, was found by members of the Langdale-Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team on Red Screes. He was reported missing about 6.50pm yesterday. His body was found at 11.15pm.
Police are now conducting inquiries on behalf of the coroner for South and East Cumbria, Ian Smith. A spokesman for Cumbria Constabulary said: “The body has not yet been formally identified, and no further details will be released until an inquest is opened by the coroner.”
The crags of the 776m (2,546ft) Red Screes overlook The Struggle, the steep road climbing from Ambleside to the Kirkstone Pass Inn.
