Mountain rescuers went to the aid of a man who took shelter on a Lakeland fell after being caught in high winds.
Kidsty Pike
The 22-year-old took refuge behind a cairn on Kidsty Pike above Mardale on Sunday. He was found by Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT). Members of the RAF from the Leeming base also went to his aid. The service personnel were on an exercise near Ullswater. Members of the Penrith MRT also took part in the operation.
The fellwalker was given a medical check before being walked off the hill to Hartsop.
Rescuers urged walkers to obtain a weather forecast before venturing on to the fells.
