This year’s Wainwright Memorial Lecture will be delivered by photographer Derry Brabbs.
Brabbs’s pictures illustrated several of Alfred Wainwright’s works later on in the author’s career, including Wainwright on the Pennine Way, Fellwalking with Wainwright and Wainwright in Scotland.

The lecture, the sixth such, will take place at Rheged, near Penrith, on Saturday, 11 October.
Previous speakers have included Cameron McNeish and Radio 2 presenter Stuart Maconie.
A spokesman for the Wainwright Society, which was formed in November 2002, said: “In recent years, Derry Brabbs has established a great reputation as an accomplished speaker whose presentations are a visual delight.
“His audiences are captivated by a combination of outstanding photography and informative narrative, delivered in a relaxed, humorous style.”
His book In the Footprints of Wainwright detailed his years spent facing up to vertigo while collaborating with the author of the Pictorial Guides. He featured in the second series of Wainwright’s Walks, presented by Julia Bradbury and broadcast last year
The society’s aim is to ‘keep alive the things AW [Alfred Wainwright] promoted through the guidebooks’.
The lecture is expected to last about an hour and will include around 100 slides, mostly of the Lake District.
