Two mountain rescue teams came to the aid of a walker who slipped on ice on Kinder Scout in the Peak District.
The 52-year-old injured his spine and pelvis in the fall above Jacob’s Ladder, on the Pennine Way on Friday. Kinder and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams stretchered the Sheffield man to Upper Booth, from where an ambulance took him to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
The one-kilometre-long carry out was accomplished by team members wearing crampons. An RAF Sea King helicopter had to turn back because of bad weather.
