Rescuers in north Wales were kept busy this week with two separate incidents on Tryfan.

The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) was called on Monday to a party of four mountaineers cragfast on the eastern side of the 915m (3,002ft) peak. 

The team used ropes to lower the two men and two women to safety from the Knight’s Move pitch of the hard-very-difficult rated Grooved Ârete. A helicopter from RAF Valley made three flights to bring them and their gear off the mountain.

The same day, the RAF’s own MRT went to the aid of a man who injured his knee on the mountain. A helicopter from the Anglesey base lifted the team on to the mountain, from where they tended to the casualty before he was airlifted to the Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.
