A walker was rescued after spending a night out in bad weather in the Cairngorms.
The Glasgow man was separated from his companion in the Lairig Ghru and the alarm was raised about 7.45pm last night. A helicopter was scrambled from RAF Kinloss and used night-vision equipment to search for the 40-year-old walker.
Driving torrential rain forced the abandonment of the search after midnight, but rescuers resumed their efforts five hours later. He was found safe and well about 10am.
Northern Constabulary said the walker was reasonably well equipped. The Lairig Ghru, the pass between Aviemore and Braemar, climbs to more than 800m.
