Organisers of a Sheffield outdoor festival say they are expecting 30,000 visitors this weekend.
Cliffhanger, a new venture, will include the British Bouldering Championships, a caving obstacle course, a chance to try scuba diving, bushcraft demonstrations and an alpine beer festival. The whole shebang takes place in the city’s Graves Park.
Co-organiser Matt Heason claimed: “There's simply nothing like it on this scale anywhere else in the country. Visitors are going to be blown away by the event.”
There will also be a chance to bag a bargain at one of the outdoor stalls, try smelting iron and conquer a climbing wall. In addition, Sheffield Adventure Film Festival will be showing the pick of its films from the festival earlier this year in a special movie tent.
The action takes place tomorrow and Sunday, starting at 10.30am. For those worried by pictures of inundated South Yorkshire villages and soggy Sheffield shopping centres, organisers say they have arranged for the summer’s only full day of sunshine.
Details are on the Cliffhanger website.
