Police have named a man who fell to his death on Scafell on Friday.
Andrew Peter Keely, of Ambleside, died after suffering serious head and chest injuries in the accident on Broad Stand, on the route between Scafell Pike and Scafell.
The 59-year-old was airlifted by RAF Sea King helicopter after receiving attention from a team from Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team. He died in West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.
Broad Stand is described by the Wasdale team as an accident blackspot, which is deceptively difficult for walkers.
- Police divers have found the body of a man who fell from the top of a County Durham waterfall.
Rescue teams had to close a reservoir outflow to stem the flow of water over High Force, near Forest-in-Teesdale. A fell rescue team and the fire service also took part in the rescue attempt, which started on Sunday evening.
Divers were unable to enter the water until Monday, following the reduction in water levels, when they found the unnamed man, who is believed to come from Jarrow in Tyne and Wear.
