This year’s Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon (LAMM) will take place on the weekend of 9-10 June.
The 2006 event took place in Assynt, in the far North-West of Scotland. Organisers of this year’s LAMM will say only that it will take place in the Scottish Highlands. Online entries are expected to open in early February.
For those who can’t wait until June, there’s a new mountain marathon being staged at the end of March.
The Highlander Mountain Marathon will run over the weekend of 31 March-1 April. Once again, according to the organisers, the setting will be a ‘stunning and rarely visited Highland location’.
The Highlander marathon is for teams of two and will have five classes, from A to D and a Score category. Because of the time of the event, it is being stressed it is not suitable for novices. There is likely to be falling or lying snow on the course.
There’s no information yet on the LAMM website about this year’s race, but there are full details of the earlier event on the Highlander Mountain Marathon website.
