There will be no weekday climbing in the Cheddar Gorge when a road closure is enforced next month.
Rock safety work means the B3135 running through the Gorge will be shut from 2 November until 30 November. The route will be closed between Black Rock Gate and Cox’s Mill Hotel for the four-week period.
The British Mountaineering Council says climbing will still be permitted at weekends. The gorge owners say there are loose rocks which could fall and crush passing cars. Areas particularly affected are around the Blackrock Gorge and Gough’s Cave.
