Calder Valley Fell Runners are asking for help marshalling a national event next month.
The British Fell Relay Championships are being hosted by the Yorkshire club at Castle Carr. The race takes place on Saturday 14 October on the moors above the Calder valley between Halifax and Hebden Bridge.
Anyone who fancies helping out should contact Bill Johnson via the club website. There are also details of the route, which is centred on the ruins of the Castle built by the Victorian Capt Joseph Edwards, who was subsequently killed in a train crash.
Unlike the runners, the race has four legs, over about 29 miles, with sections run solo and in pairs plus a ‘navigational’ leg which is unflagged. Spectators are welcome too on the course, much of which is on a private estate not normally open to the public.
