A journalist has been charged following an incident during Cumbria’s floods last November that allegedly led to a mountain rescue team being called out to a Lake District mountain.
Sarah Louise Crickmer, 27, of South Shields, Tyne and Wear, a newspaper journalist, faces two counts under the Communications Act 2003.
The charges relate to an incident near Skiddaw in the northern Lake District and involved the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team. Ms Crickmer is charged under section 127 of the act with sending a false message by public electronic communication network to cause annoyance, inconvenience of anxiety, on 26 November last year.
The journalist will appear at Workington Magistrates Court on 4 June.
